Almost

This piece had a hard life. On the way to my studio, transporting materials, the back of this canvas broke on me. Then another piece of the wood toward the bottom broke. Instead of throwing it away, I decided to turn it into a poem.

Many of us go through things in life that can almost break us…but we push on. Although it’s only three words, for me, they meant the world.

Funny part to this story, it was finished at
“Almost Broken…”
Until an ex-girlfriend looked at it and said,
“Almost broken….almost”

We looked at each other and knew the last “almost” somehow made this poem whole.

The upside down “A” is a math symbol that means “forall”.

This little mantra, in my eyes, is something we all move through while discovering our internal compass.
